Listener comments!

  3:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey Julie! Just checking in, I may conk out any minute now, but I'm loving the first songs of the show!

Is that you in the photo? It's comparable to my own messiness, but the books are stacked so WELL. I'm looking at my LP collection now, but Ikea shelves are keeping them organized, those books are freestanding!
  3:14am
Julie:

haha no...but it kinda looks like my place! I have cd's everywhere, no room for the LP's (yet)
  3:15am
coalhard:

i'm chiming in just to say--I AM HERE WILL ALWAYS BE HERE-thanks Julie appreciate the time you put into show----EXTROADINARY!!!
  3:21am
coalhard:

my hero is christopher hitchens--he is doing ok hope he stays around
  3:23am
Julie:

Thank you, coalhard! Hitchens always has a drink in his hand
  3:24am
coalhard:

yes!!!
  3:26am
Matt from Springfield:

From Iggy to Siouxsie singing Iggy! I spot a connection--never realized she sang this.
  3:42am
coalhard:

recent news item--a man texed his wife--late at night--reason for not calling--his speech was slurred!!--my speach is slurred not shaken
  3:45am
Matt from Springfield:

Great Lost Patrol!

@CH: Easier that way: "s ok dalllin i come hom l8r by"
  3:48am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: This weather in NY is exactly the kind of weather that made John Phillips write this song.

Didja know America recorded this song for a 1978 soundtrack? They said they used to play this in the 60s as a pub band in the UK.
  3:50am
Julie:

I've been California Dreamin' for weeks
  3:50am
coalhard:

actually i am one of those people that can drive while very drunk--although i don't--but i have had too in emegerncy--my motor skills not affected--but my speech is glop glop
  3:53am
coalhard:

i hit a pedesterian with emergency error--he will live
  3:57am
kostas:

hey you! I just tuned in! Keep talking. You know we love your voice!
  4:01am
Julie:

awww thanks kostas!
  4:01am
coalhard:

you don't hear this song on internet--ever--A RARE TREAT
  4:02am
Matt from Springfield:

You saw this in "The Green Hornet", I presume?
My family in Pennsylvania is enormously proud of Weird Al's "Amish Paradise". I remember when Al came out with "White and Nerdy"--at parties we would wait to see if it was going to be Weird Al or the Chameleon original!
  4:02am
Julie:

I love this, and I'm not a rap fan at ALL
  4:03am
Julie:

Yes I did, Matt! And yes I remember Al's version
  4:05am
Glenn:

Julie, will you please tell me exactly what sparkling music you played in the background during your last announcement?
  4:06am
Julie:

It comes from the Angel Sanctuary soundtrack, the artist of those particular numbers is Nanase Hiraku.
  4:08am
Julie:

I forget if that's a video game or an anime
  4:09am
Glenn:

It's quite magical. And considering the musical enjoyment you bring, so are you. Thanks!
  4:10am
Julie:

Thank, Glenn!
  4:10am
coalhard:

from rap to punk--seems the mind is expanding faster than the universe--scientists should be looking at don't matter instead of dark matter
  4:14am
ausmanx:

PiL and The Raincoats still sound so radical 20 or 30 years on. Makes you wonder... I would like to dedicate the Raincoats track to Chris Hitchens: "Go Away" you islamophobic neocon apologist. And it's true, Miss Julie, we DO love your voice...
  4:22am
Amnesic:

you say The Man Who Sold The World was 1990 - I remember it from the 70's...

I cant be arsed to Google it
  4:22am
Julie:

I haven't heard anything else that sounds like PIL, particularly the early stuff
  4:22am
Julie:

Oh it is..it's the reissue I didn't know the real year
  4:23am
Amnesic:

love it though thanks... I was tripping to it a lot then
  4:24am
Amnesic:

lying on the floor of my bedroom 2 inches away from the black and white TV screaming at it on the carpet at the 6 oclock news
  4:24am
coalhard:

@ausmanx--glad you are here--no debating you --glad to hear from you --have fun
  4:26am
Julie:

Okay, it's 1970 which is pretty much what I guessed
  4:29am
coalhard:

should i have been hard on @ausmanx??--maybe
  4:30am
Amnesic:

1970 when New York was the murder capital of the world and I had an inexhaustible queue of virgins to make love to ahhhhhh....
  4:30am
ausmanx:

and while we're trainspotting, The Raincoats album is a reissue too, cos it was originally from 1981... ah, happy days. and Mr Coal, I too loved Hitchens until he wigged out over 9/11. when the good ones fall, it makes me angrier. Susan Sontag was brave to the end and had a heroic response to 9/11, while Hitchens felt betrayed, poor little man
  4:31am
Brian:

I played The Cure's "Lovesong" at the Farmer's Market to good tips on acoustic guitar...Don't count that stuff out...
  4:33am
Julie:

Thanks aus, I had the cd and couldn't find a year on the LP
  4:33am
coalhard:

everybody run the amnesic killer is here--but i forgot to hit enter
  4:34am
Amnesic:

Pity I never lived in NY - I failed.
  4:35am
Julie:

The Cure is another band I really need to investigate more
  4:35am
coalhard:

i see your point ausmanx--good point!!!!
  4:40am
Matt from Springfield:

Gorgeous Françoise--à français!
I'll leave on this high note and catch some zzzzzzs.
Goodnight Julie! Goodnight everybody!
  4:40am
coalhard:

i have about another 15 minutes of beer left---no beer run--i may have to coast to end of show
  4:41am
ausmanx:

Hitchens and Martin Amis followed the same gutless path, which is interesting cos Amis' father Kingsley went from Communism to arch conservatism because HE felt betrayed by Stalin. precious egos, all. i'm sounding a bit feminist tonight! but it's the night of beautiful voices from Julie... Mac, Francoise, St Etiennce, with John Lydon thrown in for contrast!
  4:44am
coalhard:

send lifeboat--i hit an iceburg--i will be ok --but iceburg sinking--sorry
  4:49am
Brian:

Oh! You played "Keep Banging The Door", by PIL. Wish I'd heard it. If I remember right it's from "Flowers of Romance", a very underrated and psychecedellic album...
  4:50am
Julie:

Always spill your beer, then if you run low you can suck the paper towels you used to clean up
  4:52am
coalhard:

yes--i dropped a beer at 7-11---payed for it drank from mop bucket i did
  4:56am
Brian:

Try "Witches hat"
by incredible string band. Bet you like it...
  4:59am
Brian:

ELO, Good call...
  5:01am
coalhard:

we make julie's life harder --i hate that part--i will listen as i go to sleelp--thanks julie FANTASTIC TIME!!!
  5:08am
Julie:

Thank you, coalhard! Always good to hear from you guys
  5:09am
coalhard:

  5:23am
coalhard:

I HAVE ONE MINUTE OF BEER LEFT--I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE IT AM I--TELL MY WIFE TO BUY MORE BEER
  5:24am
Julie:

send her a text, coal
  5:30am
coalhard:

SHE CAN RECUSSITATE ME IN MORNING--LEAVING EMPTY BOTTLE NEAR ME FOR A CLUE
  5:37am
coalhard:

i'm going to make like amelia earheart (running on fumes)and crash somewhere on the internet--Wilson where are you?
  5:45am
coalhard:
