Listener comments!

  3:03pm
Gigantor:

Ringworm! You rock, Irwin! But that's Van Morrison, not Lee Morgan.
  3:04pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Ah, "Ring Worm." Van Morrison's masterpiece, IMHO. As soon as I heard it, I thought, "Kenny's gone and Irwin's here. Hooray!"
  3:08pm
Ike:

Kenny G just stated that you can curse in other languages. That isn't true, is it? A Georgia station (among others) was fined $7,000 for sex jokes in Spanish in 2002. Does the FCC consider sex jokes to be as bad as regular non-sexual cursing? Of course, with the FCC, nobody can probably ever tell. Plus, they probably don't have the manpower to translate everything. Swahili would be safe.
  3:13pm
Marko:

mock turtles!!!! madchester!!!!!!!!

AnAnonymousParty:

I've often been referred to as a 'tete du merde'. Of course, that's Monsieur tete du merde to you.
  3:15pm
gumby:

I can dig it.
  3:18pm
Parq:

Digging the Della the most, but any change of some contemp. country today?
  3:22pm
Stuart Troutman:

Wow, now I remember why I never liked Della Reese. That was hideous.
  3:23pm
Ike:

I could only take about five seconds.
  3:25pm
Raj:

Irwin, you're the only DJ where I can enjoy the music without having to wiki and cyber-research the bands.

There's a compliment in there.

Jason:

Hey Irwin, enjoying the show! Jingle Jangle morning takes me back to this comp cd called Shreds 1992, that compiled a bunch of 7''s from that year by Karl Hendricks Trio and the like. It had an amazingly fun song by this group named Moist from the Sacramento Area called "Be Young". I have struggled to learn more about this band, all I've come up with are some crappy canadian modern rock group...any leads would be heroic
  3:34pm
Jim:

This is cool. Play stuff like it.
  3:36pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Flanger! Say, you got 'The Big Hurt' w/Miss Toni Fisher? IIRC, the 1st use of flanging, deliberately, in a pop recording.
  3:39pm
Stuart Troutman:

Ever heard Del Shannon's cover of 'The Big Hurt'?
  3:40pm
Frank Thomas:

Me

"Ever heard Del Shannon's cover of 'The Big Hurt'?"

  4:09pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

This Pooh Sticks is taking a long road to get where it's going. But I'm enjoying the ride.
  4:14pm
gumby:

The secret to happiness is dried Pooh Sticks,
  4:15pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Dried pooh sticks to what?
  4:17pm
gumby:

That's part of the happiness, it doesn't stick to your shoes and it doesn't stink as bad either.
  4:20pm
jan:

  4:26pm
gumby:

  4:28pm
stingy d:

  4:29pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Bongo is okay, but how about more cowbell? I mean a lot more cowbell, like insane extreme cowbell, I want a freakin' cowbell solo.
  4:31pm
stingy d:

  4:33pm
Parq:

  4:34pm
oaklandish:

hey tacoma. when is the zeppelin simulator coming out?
  4:34pm
giraffe-o:

Used to hate this Zepp song, but now I appreciate its irony
  4:35pm
Lizardner Dave:

You do need irony to make heavy metal. Also brass.
  4:36pm
Vicki:

beep
  4:36pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

You're so f******* special. Now that's funny!
  4:38pm
R. P.:

First time I've heard a children's choir get bleeped.
  4:39pm
gumby:

This is beautiful, I feel better about myself. Thank You irwin.
  4:40pm
Steve Barton:

I feel better about Gumby, in the afterglow...
  4:40pm
Vicki:

can't beat childrens choirs. Actually you can. retard choirs.
  4:41pm
gumby:

Sorry Irwin, Mitt malfunction
  4:42pm
Parq:

Vicki, you can beat children's choirs, but afterward you have to tell everybody that they fell down the stairs.
  4:42pm
Irwin:

I'm beginning to worry about all of you.
  4:42pm
gumby:

Hey, I thought they were otherly enabled choirs.
  4:43pm
Vicki:

no, ahead or behind - just beautiful choirs, that's the main thing :)
  4:44pm
Vicki:

I worry a lot too.
  4:45pm
Sean Daily:

Dana Drake... RAWK! Horns to the sky!

MOSH PIT!
  4:46pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Is Dana Drake related to B J Snowdon?
  4:47pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

So this comment software edits out the F-bomb, too? The other night in the Luxuria Music chat we were figuring out which of Carlin's Seven Words (and three auxiliaries) the software would bleep. I was pretty surprised at the ones the software left intact -- like "cunt."
  4:48pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

But do you know where B.J. Snowden is, Irwin?
  4:49pm
stingy d:

i call a clit a click so i'm good in every circumstance
  4:53pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

heard the original just this morning on wcsb.org. did you ever see Stevie Winwood's highly dialated pupils in the video to this?
  4:55pm
AnAnonymousParty:

This RLJ got me looking for my sunglasses (and it's kinda bongo-y), you should really give us a warning Irwin so we can be properly prepared.
  4:57pm
Jim:

Sick set.
  4:59pm
gumby:

Alright if I can't have crazy bongos. Hard Bop is fine. Muchas Gracias!
  5:00pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Anybody seen this web site?
http://www.spaceagepop.com/index.htm
  5:04pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Hey, I actually like this song -- and it doesn't sound at all incorrect!
  5:06pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

AnAnonymous, I've seen that site before, and learned a lot from it.
  5:15pm
AnAnonymousParty:

I just got hold of a Monte Kelly album at an antique store for a $1 and was trying to find out what the guy's deal was anyway and ended up at that site ... and now I've got more stuff to look for. Irwin is mentioned there, wouldn't you know it
  5:22pm
Holden like caufield:

Awesome - MIdlake! 'Van Occupanther' was one of my top 5 albums last year, cant wair for their upcoming release
  5:22pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Irwin is mentioned everywhere that really matters.
  5:23pm
Irwin:

Ain't mentioned here: http://www.barackbook.com/
  5:27pm
johnc_tacoma:

Irwin really liked Ronald Raygun...
  5:27pm
Ike:

The Midlake album was a little too soft for my tastes. It mostly sounds like Chicago or Boston or something. This song is great though. And wow, David Bowie is strangely even more compelling in German.
  5:28pm
Sara:

I think Irwin only likes Midlake because the vocalist sounds just like Thom Yorke.
  5:32pm
Irwin:

Sara, dear, you understand my contrarian nature.
  5:36pm
Lizardner Dave:

By the way, which way is "athwart"? Is that the opposite of "astarboard"?
  5:42pm
Steve Barton:

How about I just sit here until you decide, Van?
  5:42pm
Parq:

The 2000-year-old man to Joan of Arc: "You save France and I'll go wash up."
  5:44pm
Jim:

Not sure how I felt about that Juliana Hatfield thing.
  5:44pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Then obviously the Barack Book doesn't matter, Irwin.
  5:48pm
Steve Barton:

Thanks Ir-man! My fave of the bunch. Bread up front!
  5:49pm
Sean Daily:

Yes, in fact I do want a danish. I'll blow in my nose on it and give it to Dumb George.
  5:54pm
FS in Berkeley:

Van Morrison at his/their absolute worst.
  5:55pm
Abe Lincoln:

Let's have a vote, for democracy. Which was the best of the Van Moreison tracks? I vote for You Say France and I'll Whistle.
  5:56pm
Sara:

By worst you mean best, right?
  5:56pm
Steve Barton:

Best comment by Parq
  5:58pm
Irwin:

Next year's Hoof & Mouth: someone's gotta do a Van-Bang medley.
  6:09pm
Steve Barton:

Nothing will top that Jacques Brel tune you did several years ago for woof-moo-ishness. I think the Van-Bang songs would go well as between-set entertainment, done while the next DJ is getting ready to sing.
