So one of my bro's friends in LA is currently in London, and just found out that her house was totally burned down in the Palisades fires. Sigh. I'm getting worried for an artist friend of mine -- he's in the middle of a messy move (basically the entire house that he was renting a room in became uninhabitalbe a few months ago, while his storage unit company also shut down unexpectedly). As such, his ENTIRE portfolio is crammed into a large rented room in another house. He's safe, so far, but he's scanning his sketchbooks etc and uploading to his cloud space as fast as he can.

my idea with the sldeshows is for them to be projected large on adjacent walls.. with the museum drawings want to reflect the spectacularization/ commodification of the experience of museum going and how this produces a hall of mirrors effect maybe having to do with collective memory.... the slideshow is somewhat a strategy to displace the viewer.... the mutating mansions... a parody of accumulated wealth

When a Venice Beach webcam turns north, you can see the bank of thick smoke heading out to sea below a band of blue sky. The quiet of it while hearing and seeing accounts of the hellish scenes and losses at the fire locations themselves is a bit eerie.
