Kaiku live + new releases / mixed bag

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

Centered on the radiant harmonies of three female vocalists, Kaiku gives old - sometimes ancient - Finnish texts entirely new musical settings with the help of an instrumental lineup drawing as much from Brazilian music as Finnish music! Like, how about a little berimbau with your ancient Finnish epic poems?

Kaiku’s next NYC gig is at the Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard St, May 5 at 9pm and at The Living Room, 154 Ludlow St on May 8. The band will also be playing Celebrate Brooklyn at Prospect Park this summer (July 21)!

See Kaiku’s schedule, band bios and more at http://www.kaikumusic.com

Thanks to WFMU’s own OCDJ for engineering this session.
