@tom tom the pipers son: there's a Mallet-Stevens street in Paris (it has 4 or 5 of his buildings), I'd sometime go there while in college. Le Corbusier built one there, I don't think it's a coincidence

We got actual snow! Not a ton -- maybe an inch and a half. But still! More than we've had in like three years! The dog seemed to enjoy his first experience of it.

It's slowly falling, not unlike wildfire ash, but white (at first) and with more water in it (other stuff too, especially in NJ)

↳ Song: "The 1913 Massacre" by "Rick & Lorraine Lee"
Thanks Cricket for this version of Woody Guthrie's "1913." I've never heard this version before. I never thought of this as a Christmas song; have thought of it as a labor protest song. But I suppose it is an Xmas song in one way.

Cricket. Yes, a real event in Calumet, Michigan.
I first heard the song on the live album from a 1968 Guthrie tribute concert held at Carnegie Hall, NYC. (The LP from '72.) It was by Ramblin' Jack Elliott. Woody's son Arlo did it on his 1972 album "Hobo's Lullaby." I believe there are several versions recorded.
