I was stunned to learn that New Order had performed in NYC as early as autumn 1980! = Before the first single “Ceremony” even arrived 🤯. I attended one of the 1981 concerts at the Peppermint Lounge & the show was so brief & lowkey & subtle, we didn’t quite know what to make of it. It was at the same time as the 1st album “Movement” had arrived. Later we realized we had been witness to the beginning of a new post punk, new wave, electro pop rock hybrid that we weren’t expecting. Cool Beans!

I attended one of the 1981 concerts at the Peppermint Lounge & the show was so brief & lowkey & subtle, we didn’t quite know what to make of it. It was at the same time as the 1st album “Movement” had arrived. Later we realized we had been witness to the beginning of a new post punk, new wave, electro pop rock hybrid that we weren’t expecting. Cool Beans!
