	👻 10:21am Karl: ↳ Asheville Jon @9:55 So back in '85 Deep Purple's tour bus broke down in Princeton Junction (aside: Princeton Junction no longer exists, it merged with neighboring Princeton). The bus had a multiple tire blowout, and there was but one spare. JA was still a kid, but he had his learner's permit, and it wasn't dark yet as he happened to pass by. About a mile after the bus he recognized Ian Paice rolling two mostly flat spare tires down the highway. JA stopped and asked if he needed help. Paice was near panick (British spelling, you can hear in the way the Brits say it that they spell it that way). Their show was in Trenton and they only had three hours to get there with their gear. JA had a tape deck in the 1980 Volvo he was driving, and stuck in the deck was a bootleg of what was at that time believed to be the final recorded live performance of John Coltrane. What's more, the tape deck was stuck at just below half speed. Paice got in the car with the two spares and JA hit play, and then a jazz miracle occurred. Whenever the tape was playing, time slowed down to just a little less than half its normal speed. JA was able to get the two tires pumped up and installed, and Deep Purple made it to the show with an hour to spare. About six months later, the 1980 Volvo's engine died. Mysteriously, the tape deck continued working with no engine, and even with no battery. It's rumoured (again: British spelling) that this tape deck is still playing that bootleg concert to this day. So if you're ever in a south Jersey junkyard and you hear slowed down strains of a sax blowing "Offering," you might find it blasting from that slate grey '80 Volvo. Take a moment to climb inside.

	👻 10:21am Karl: ↳ Asheville Jon @9:55 So back in '85 Deep Purple's tour bus broke down in Princeton Junction (aside: Princeton Junction no longer exists, it merged with neighboring Princeton). The bus had a multiple tire blowout, and there was but one spare. JA was still a kid, but he had his learner's permit, and it wasn't dark yet as he happened to pass by. About a mile after the bus he recognized Ian Paice rolling two mostly flat spare tires down the highway. JA stopped and asked if he needed help. Paice was near panick (British spelling, you can hear in the way the Brits say it that they spell it that way). Their show was in Trenton and they only had three hours to get there with their gear. JA had a tape deck in the 1980 Volvo he was driving, and stuck in the deck was a bootleg of what was at that time believed to be the final recorded live performance of John Coltrane. What's more, the tape deck was stuck at just below half speed. Paice got in the car with the two spares and JA hit play, and then a jazz miracle occurred. Whenever the tape was playing, time slowed down to just a little less than half its normal speed. JA was able to get the two tires pumped up and installed, and Deep Purple made it to the show with an hour to spare. About six months later, the 1980 Volvo's engine died. Mysteriously, the tape deck continued working with no engine, and even with no battery. It's rumoured (again: British spelling) that this tape deck is still playing that bootleg concert to this day. So if you're ever in a south Jersey junkyard and you hear slowed down strains of a sax blowing "Offering," you might find it blasting from that slate grey '80 Volvo. Take a moment to climb inside.
