It’s My Birthday
#66
I wonder if that third six had been lurking, waiting to take you from me.
I promised myself I’d try not to cry this morning, but to no avail.
You’ve left a gaping hole in my life and heart & I have nothing to fill it with but sorrow.
Photographs and memories.
That’s all.
Every year, every holiday, you’d make me a Birthday card and a Christmas card and a Valentines Day card and a card just because, to say thanks & I love you.
I kept every one.
As did you my store bought ones, me not being the artist you are.
At left is the inside of the last one you made for me.
Squeezle being goofy.
The cover of the card featured Squirt very close up, his black fur & beautiful gold / green eyes saying “I have to be cute.”
I loved them all, everything you created was beautiful.
Always beautiful, usually including the cats “Da Boyz.”
This year…nothing.. no one..no smiles..no words..no card …no you
Brings to mind a song from Genesis’s “Wind and Wuthering” LP:
"Afterglow"
Like the dust that settles all around me
I must find a new home
The ways and holes that used to give me shelter
Are all as one to me now
But I, I would search everywhere
Just to hear your call
And walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world I used to know before
I miss you more
Than the sun, reflecting off my pillow
Bringing the warmth of new life
And the sounds that echoed all around me
I caught a glimpse of in the night
But now, now I've lost everything
I give to you my soul
The meaning of all that I believed before
Escapes me in this world of none, no thing, no one
And I would search everywhere
Just to hear your call
And walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world I used to know before
For now I've lost everything
I give to you my soul
The meaning of all that I believed before
Escapes me in this world of none
I miss you more
www.youtube.com...
It says it all.
So I’ll muddle through my day, the one day I used to always ask Her what She’d like to do, so as to honor Her for being with me.
To let her know I’m nothing without her love.
And make the day all about her & me, for without her, I’m very little. Less each day.
Simple things, together.
No longer possible.
Today I’m dealing with my own health issues (doctors appointments), and accountants and billing company’s & can barely hold it together when I have to explain her situation to people over & over.
To sit in a doctor’s office reduces me to tears with movies in my head of all the time I spent in them with her
The grief is so very fresh, the million movies of my mind replaying over & over & yet the other world presses on and I collapse, again.
So, Happy Birthday to Me..I guess

How the economical cycle tends to revolve
In a round of decades, three stages stand out in a loop
A slump and war, then peel back to square one and back for more
Bigger slump and bigger wars
And a smaller recovery
Huger slump and greater wars
And a shallower recovery
You see the recovery always comes 'round again
There's nothing to worry for, things look after themselves
It's alright, recovery always comes 'round again
There's nothing to worry if things can only get better
There's only millions that lose their jobs and homes
And sometimes accents
There's only millions that die in their bloody wars
It's alright
It's only their lives and the lives
Of their next of kin that they are losing...
