I don't remember if I had the chance to say it before but I love the shows you do with your mom

I begged Gary not to mess around with piano tunings, but he is so reckless. I hope he is ok.
  @7:32
Listener Gregory:

@doctorj, I thought of you yesterday. I came across a pack of low-sodium latkes. I looked at the sodium level, expecting to find virtually none. Instead it was like 380 mg, or as I would call this, high sodium! Are latkes supposed to be so salty??
Avatar Swag For Life Member @7:32
Gary:

↳ WR @7:29
Weird -- maybe try the pop-up?
  @7:33
mic_a:

Well... I guess we're running silent and deep. I am purposefully not looking things up, but my perception of quarter-tone piano is that the Middle Eastern system is a different thing from the Western contemporary classical approach. The former is more like the blues maybe? More about a certain vocal-based expressiveness?
  @7:34
peter:

tried to pop-up, the .pls, and the app.. nothin' nowhere!
Avatar Swag For Life Member @7:34

Oh, shoot -- I think there might be a problem here yeah

  @7:42
Wimpy:

Aw bummer I was hoping it was just me. The first twenty minutes were super cool! Definitely gonna check the archive
  @7:43
Listener Gregory:

Gary’s show still has the best silence on WFMU. Silence from Algeria, the Greek Isles, USSR in the 70s, Peru—you just don’t get this diversity on other shows.
  @7:44

Ha! Listener Gregory is right.

Salt isn't a necessary feature of latkes (as opposed to oil, which is). But fried potatoes and salt just go together like a horse and carriage...

  @8:07

Thanks. When I am king, “low sodium” items will have no added salt, and cooks can add some if they want. Also, the radio will have sounds you can hear. But that is just a dream.

The New Sounds stream is a bit repetitive and verges on the easy listening too much. They have gotten rid of anything that might be too outside. John Schaffer's shows are usually pretty good, though, and I hear Irene credited there sometimes.
