Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I don't know where you are in your Stetson explorations, but I really enjoyed "Sorrow: A Reimagining of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony". Deeper and darker than the original orchestration, and some of the instrumental substitutions which could read like stunt casting are IMO pretty compelling.
I like the really really low reeds, and the use of metal-style drumming when things come to a head.

a good (male) friend was all about Fogelberg but it always bored me to sleep.
- but i don't know what i'd think now. probably haven't heard him since ~1978.
Jeff Moore:
your comment introduced me to the new notion that of course the El Mocambo might well be an actual real-world venue at which people might attend shows, it not just a phrase which occurs after "live at" in album titles.

It was a small few decades ago when I first learned that Maya Rudolph is the daughter of Minnie Riperton, and talk about being hit with a fact which was both surprising and made absolute perfect sense...

a lot of it is exactly what you're talking about.
because of the blatant plagiarism involved i assumed it was composed by "a.i.", with a wide assortment of commissioned "sound-alike_ vocalists. that made me sad enough; but i was to learn that much of it is made by actual humans who want to be famous. that made me sadder.
