Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

Hi, Bronwyn and fellow listeners. I'm reluctant to say "good" as a greeting at the moment.

Oh, Bronwyn, didn't you mention last week having a ticket to this show? I hope it was great!

↳ Song: "Soliloquy" by "Joshua Henry"
I heard this Soliloquy at a talent show in junior high school, performed by a younger teacher. We all giggled at the line about marrying a virgin. Not maybe for the reason you think... it was just, "He said 'virgin'!"
Those were simpler times.
Avatar 7:35pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

a skinny-lipped virgin at that!

I love that Oscar managed to work the word "lorgnette" in there to rhyme with "born yet," lucky him that that word exists

I connected and just heard the last bit of Porgy. Major players collaborating on that.

Thanks for the review. Here's my mini-review of the WFMU Record fair on Saturday: It was generally good. I liked looking at the displays and thumbing through some of the collections. I liked the live band, Lightheaded, that played at 4 PM. On the downside, it was very crowded. It's probably where I caught the cold I still have. I should've worn a face mask. I didn't.

I was very confused by that On a Clear Day, cuz I couldn’t read the playlist at the time.

They have a show in NYC this Dec. 6th at The Cutting Room. I just checked their website.

The weird thing about that Streisand/Kenny G collaboration is that she could have gotten anyone she wanted. Certainly she has a budget for such things.

After this election, fact-checking, like decency and courtesy, is dead. Or at least in intensive care.

↳ Song: "GW Bush and Korea" by "The Capitol Steps"
Some are now nostalgic for the presidency of George W. Bush. Who would have thought it possible?

I was a Capitol Steps fan!

George W. Bush, at worst, was only the second most despicable man ever to be president.

In my school, if you were named Babbu Maan, you were going to be in for some ribbing.

Well, this is weird. Something I'd expect to hear on Ken's show, more so than this one.

I will admit it is not very ajh in tone, but when I hear things like this I feel obligated to play them

I can tell ken likes show tunes more than he lets on and we should do a collaborative show sometime

It looks better in the rearview mirror than it did at the time. Very high murder/crime rate. On the plus side, housing and things in general were more affordable.
