When I was growing up in the 80’s I didn’t have much use for the pop music, I loved the blues, and 50s/60s rock. After the past 40 years and listening to your and Rob Levy’s 80s shows, I’ve reevaluated that and now think the 80’s were the last decade of good overall pop music. Of course, there’s good artists/bands in any decade, and thank you for finding and playing them on your show. But, the pop music now seems…so bland, homogenized, and corporatized. Maybe it’s because the actual music is an afterthought to music videos and stage shows. Maybe all that is wanted now is just good looks and a good social media presence and the record companies provide the music by synthesizers and autotune the singing. Maybe it’s time for me to shout “Get off my lawn!”
