It seems nearly all the wfmu DJs were buying UK import singles in their late teens.

It's been a fairly brit-tastic week here & on the streams

Gonna send this out to the memory of my dear friend Corwin whose funeral was 30 years ago today. DM was his favorite band. He loved to make up words to their songs and razz his friends and this was one of his favs. He really deserved more than 24 years on this planet. Fuck cancer.

My overriding thought about consumption of music was having to wait for releases. I would hear a pre release on the radio and it wouldn't be out for ages so taping was often an option for my impatient younger self as well 😀

I'm a lil bit older & couldn't really afford imports, Tho I did buy the I'm bored Destroy All Monsters 7"

As for what travelled, the reverence the station has for Nick Lowe & Dave Edmunds surprises me, I suppose they & the Feelgoods were the last generation to be directly/solely inspired by Americana. Also the yanks attitude to glam (Todd-o-phonic Todd said he ranks Slade with the stones & the velvets,!!!?!!) can be jarring at times & makes me look at my own biases.

But treating Depeche Mode like they're as innovative/significsnt as Kraftwerk is just a step too far for me. :)

Still, whatever, its all good & the DJs all clearly know their stuff & I've yet to donate so maybe I should just shut me gob like.

Still it takes all sorts
