	🥁 3:39pm PAULS: How can I be the first? This is a BO-DACIOUS SHOW! Was lucky enough to catch him at the Howlin' Wolf in 2003 in between Jazz Fest weekends. It's a fuzzy memory but I remember a lot of guests coming up on stage to play along.

I went to Goner Fest in Memphis, biz convention in Nashville after that. I'm taking it easy this weekend after that trip. ACL isn't my thing.i haven't checked the lineup this year, but in past years it seems to be more mainstream modern bands the kids like - not my style or scene at all.

Schizophonics played at Goner and I'm friends with them from living in California and they told me they were playing Nashville the next week and that's when I happened to be there. So I got to go see and hang with them at a small club in Nashville, too! That was a total added bonus to the trip! So much fun!

She talked about how she got her name. "Mary Jane" well, apparently her bandmates were big stoners. And she said New Orleans background singers were often called "hoopers" cuz they would sing "hoop hoop".

	3:51pm doctorjazz: I went to Jazz fest twice in the 90s, it was a lot of fun, but hot as hell once (got light rain the other time, was actually very pleasant). It was incredibly crowded then (and I've heard it's only gotten worse). I think I'm too old to tolerate it now (almost went in 2013, had tix and arrangements, but my mom became ill and it was scrapped).

The first weekend actually seems to be the weekend that's cooler and by the first weekend in May it is getting pretty hot. It has rained a day or so the last couple years and that's cooled it down some but getting around in the mud. Kind of sucks. I will rain boots this year and had an umbrella and Pancho for that day that it rained. But it's so worth it so much fun!

That was a concert highlight for me! (but now I'm an old fart, bad back, not sure I'd survive it...)

Schizophonics played at Goner and I'm friends with them from living in California and they told me they were playing Nashville the next week and that's when I happened to be there. 	3:51pm doctorjazz: I went to Jazz fest twice in the 90s, it was a lot of fun, but hot as hell once (got light rain the other time, was actually very pleasant). It was incredibly crowded then (and I've heard it's only gotten worse). I think I'm too old to tolerate it now (almost went in 2013, had tix and arrangements, but my mom became ill and it was scrapped).

The first weekend actually seems to be the weekend that's cooler and by the first weekend in May it is getting pretty hot. It has rained a day or so the last couple years and that's cooled it down some but getting around in the mud. Kind of sucks. I will rain boots this year and had an umbrella and Pancho for that day that it rained. But it's so worth it so much fun!

That was a concert highlight for me! (but now I'm an old fart, bad back, not sure I'd survive it...)
