to be honest, i never thought of jerry lee as a country artist. (nor a rock & roll artist)
i've heard a few countryish things and a few "ballad" type things (to use that term incorrectly, like most people!) but i've mostly heard boogie woogie and barrelhouse from him...in a very limited style and repertoire.

in any case i appreciate you playing this so 1. i can see another side of him and 2. so i can learn that he did make at least 1 recording i like... so there're probably others.

he's in the country hall of fame! and, yeah, rockabilly's not too far from that, but he also had a hugely successful C&W career in the '60s/'70s.

i read the dean martin bio...it was quite embellished sort of leaning toward fiction, but i guess that'swhat tosches did

sadly, except for the officially released stuff i just played, there don't seem to be any circulating tapes of vintage harmonia (which is how i ended up checking out the box set tracks), but will take another look.

did not know that. when i heard of him when i was little he was called "rock & roll" -but it never seemed like it to me!
...i can easily imagine him playing western... more than country.
(although maybe not now, that i've heard his sunday morning coming down)

excellent show jesse... thanks, and look forward to bootleg shows which i enjoyed last time

- for the record i also don't think of Johnny Cash as "country", although he played a lot of it, alongside much else.
...and although i don't think of Elvis Presley as a rock & roll artist, i certainly don't consider him "country"; yet he's in the country music hall of fame!
