	2:38pm Mr. Oxford: ↳ DJ GeorgyGirl @2:11 She was a fabulous teacher. Not only was she good at teaching Math, she cared about students very much. Whenever I seemed depressed, she would sit me down and talk to me. She would take out the time to do that. I will never forget that. She encouraged my small talents in music and poetry. She would ask for copies of my original song lyrics and poems so she could keep them which was so sweet of her. About a decade ago, a tumor was discovered in her brain. She underwent surgery and she was in coma for some time. After she woke from the coma, her health and movement had changed completely. But despite all that, she has had such a positive attitute towards life. She looks back at her diagnosis positively, as a moment that led her to continue living. She still supports her students who are all grown up now and celebrates students' special moments/milestones on Facebook. I wrote a long post about Lou Reed's Transformer album turning 50 on Facebook a few years ago and she read the whole thing and left nice comments. Sorry I am getting a bit emotional here haha.

She read "Charlotte's Web" to us and did voices for all the characters. And one day she brought in her blender and played us songs using the different speeds. She holds a very special place in my heart <3

When I did not teach, I wish I had thought more about just how important some teachers can be in people's lives and as you mentioned, the extra effort and distance they go. I really liked hearing some stories from Tim Walz's former students recently and the impact he had on them (Just to clarify, I am not getting political here, just mentioning that stories from his former students have come up during this time and they are quite nice).

It's a bit like here in Estonia, many cities and towns end in 'vere'. The word in Estonian language means blood and referred to reddish lands many centuries ago which meant settlements could be built on these lands. Just out of curiosity, would you see the people living in the Flanders are culturally different than Dutch people in the Netherlands? Or the cultural differences are not vast?

Mainly because the lower part mainly is catholic and the upper half is protestant. The Flemish and Southern Netherland provinces have a Nether-frankish dialect, the upper part have a nether-saxon dialect. It's all Dutch but slightly different. (The Friesian people are the exception here. they have their own language. Compare it to Welsh or Cornish on the British isles.)

Whenever I seemed depressed, she would sit me down and talk to me. She would take out the time to do that. I will never forget that. She encouraged my small talents in music and poetry. She would ask for copies of my original song lyrics and poems so she could keep them which was so sweet of her. About a decade ago, a tumor was discovered in her brain. She underwent surgery and she was in coma for some time. After she woke from the coma, her health and movement had changed completely. But despite all that, she has had such a positive attitute towards life. She looks back at her diagnosis positively, as a moment that led her to continue living. She still supports her students who are all grown up now and celebrates students' special moments/milestones on Facebook. I wrote a long post about Lou Reed's Transformer album turning 50 on Facebook a few years ago and she read the whole thing and left nice comments. Sorry I am getting a bit emotional here haha.
