Hello Kim and drummer stream folks.

Yes, have been doom scrolling on places with Helene related flooding. Have no close folks in the affected areas but friends of friends and anyway, terrible for that to happen to anyone.

Typing was the most useful class I took in high school. And that was with actually typewriters. Those were the days! But the class doesn’t help you with a phone keyboard.

↳ Listener Gregory @7:22
Ah, but manual or electric??

You could tell a manual typist by his beefy pinky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
Kim Sorise:

↳ Listener Gregory @7:22
Yes, . I truly wish I had learned, but it would not fit in my schedule for the 3 years I attempted to take it in high school. I wanted to use the BIG IBM Selectric like my Nana had.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Kim Sorise:

↳ βrian @7:25
Hahaha! In the newsroom that was very true. Thank goodness I chose radio; I never would have survived print for much longer than I did. 🤣
  7:31pm
Listener Gregory:

The class used manual typewriters, and that is what I had in college. I still type pretty fast at a computer keyboard, if the keys have a decent bounce.
Avatar 7:32pm
βrian:

My momma told me: If you want to go to college and you ain't rich, you'd better damn well learn to type.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
adamdoesit:

I’ve been writing in cursive again. For me, it makes it easier to slow down and wait for the next thought to come than when I print or compu-type.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
Kim Sorise:

↳ adamdoesit @7:49
Most certainly it does. It is recommended for people with dysgraphia and written expression disorder as well because of reduced physicality AND because it slows down the brain. Many many kids right now are struggling to write with any level of proficiency. Keyboarding as a writing replacement is a big reason why. Written expression takes the entire brain and typing does not support working memory building like wrestling with words and writing, erasing, rewriting, erasing, etc.
