Neubauten were absolutely brilliant, like the new album - a masterclass in mixing in new material with choice cuts from the back catalogue. Quiet and lovely one minute, the full metal bashing noise the next. And they seemed to be really enjoying it, too.

Hello Stork and swells! Barkeep, I hear it's Nick Cave's birthday. Fix me a Your Funeral,* would you?

Your Funeral
2oz Glen Passaic
2tbsp child's ashes
1 psalm, torn from your father's bible
1/2oz tears of gratitude
Selva Selvaggia bitters

Place a large ice cube in a rocks glass, and dash bitters on top. Fold psalm into a cone, moisten with tears of gratitude, and place in mouth of glass. Spoon child's ashes into cone. Slowly pour Glen Passaic over ashes, and allow to drip through completely. Serve with a twist.

An amazing (and horrifying) thing he told me - they tried to enter it into the Berlin Film Festival, and the festival told him that they would accept it if Wim Wenders (executive producer) and Nick Cave both attended. But Cave couldn't do the dates, and the festival said that Wenders alone WAS NOT ENOUGH. I was staggered.
