My brother got in SO MUCH TROUBLE for playing Slick Rick around my mom, who was not amused in the slightest bit. While my parents were accepting of nearly anything and everything we could find, they really didn't like Rap or Hip Hop, and were were punished accordingly when it came into the house.

I made it my goal to dig pretty far into anything experimental, and pretty soon was just listening to feeback squalls and noise collages for most of the last couple decades. While my ear has gotten a little more refined since then, for a while I was stupidly snobby unless we were talking about really obscure noise bands.
