Discotech Underground is actually two...two...two shows in one!

The first half is a "Happy Hour" of sorts (because it's five o'clock somewhere, right?), spinning the kinds of sounds you might have heard at a real, authentic 1960's DISCOTECH as cool cats and swingin' chicks danced the night away in their mod threads and mini skirts to hard-driving sounds under the flashing lights! The only thing missing are the cage dancers...but we're working on it!

The second half is for when you head home after a wild night, and ease in with the heady, trippy, mind-expanding sounds of a groovy free-form UNDERGROUND rock radio station that digs deep into their library and blows your mind all over again!

Gonna toss this out there for better or worse. As I listen to this show (Bob and Gina too) I hear some early music by musicians that are rather conformist. These artists later developed a distinctive style, The Who or Moody Blues for example. If you take the pressure from marketing for conformity as part of the issue and perhaps some genre chasing by the musicians to get established, what allowed for this infloresence to happen? Anyone is welcome to answer. I wasnt there, what did you see?

Back in those days, a lot of music of an unusual nature did get recorded and did get released, mostly because the cigar chomping guys at the record companies just said "I don't know what this...put it out, maybe it will move a few units". The cigar chompers were better than the young hipsters that took over the music business later on because it was seen as being wise to say "no" to something than take a chance and have it miss the mark. That is from a Frank Zappa interview I heard at one time which I am paraphrasing.

I think it was obvious that so many bands back in the day tried to capitalize on the sound they saw becoming hits... the young hipsters became more discriminating because they thought they knew what people liked... I suppose the key to marketing is making people like what you want them to...sad but true...:)

↳ Song: "Halo Of Flies" by "Alice Cooper"
Alice Cooper was here at our 15000 seat arena month ago and heard it was an awesome show. Usually, I would think this would be a smaller venue here. Cool.
