Followed by the life changing 2xLp comp: ‘Recommended Records Sampler’ (1982) = literally changed the way I perceived & pursued music ever since hearing it.🌟👏 🥳. 	8:47pm Dean: Somewhere along or beyond the spectrum "crass...to...preservation" we'll have to situate scholarship, namely, liner notes. The almost unique example that comes to mind is Graham Johnson's series on Hyperion of the complete Schubert lieder, coupled with an assortment of related works. These appeared from the '80s into the '00s, each with a CD booklet so fat that most wouldn't survive the jewel case. After its completion, Johnson published a book consisting of the compiled booklet texts. So, while not a vinyl release, it is a striking instance of liner note as a medium for scholarship.

My narrow subject was the notes accompanying recordings designed to reenact not just the music of a certain time and place, but particular historical events and circumstances.

	8:47pm Dean: Somewhere along or beyond the spectrum "crass...to...preservation" we'll have to situate scholarship, namely, liner notes. The almost unique example that comes to mind is Graham Johnson's series on Hyperion of the complete Schubert lieder, coupled with an assortment of related works. These appeared from the '80s into the '00s, each with a CD booklet so fat that most wouldn't survive the jewel case. After its completion, Johnson published a book consisting of the compiled booklet texts. So, while not a vinyl release, it is a striking instance of liner note as a medium for scholarship.
