	8:04pm coelacanth∅: ↳ medson @7:43 my friends & i set up ramps on a dead-end street and had jumping contests. one day my piece of shit (rally?) stingray was beyond ridability so i borrowed my younger sister's barely used, sparkly green $30 sears stingray bike...and again,and again...and discovered it was faster, more durable and could jump farther than my own bicycle. so the following xmas i asked for a sears 1-speed girls stingray bicycle with coaster brakes...but my parents decided i should be too grown-up for that. they tried to talk me into a 10-speed, but i strongly objected. (of course, i couldn't tell them i was jumping ramps and having "suicide rallies" where we intentionally crashed into each-other) so they gave me a very elaborate larger murray 3-speed stingray. the back wheel was larger, which i loved, and the paint was a gradual dark blue-violet-hot pink-deep red, metallic. "stick shifter; padded sissy bar! but it was heavy, and i couldn't do 40' skids down gallows hill road because no coaster brake. and it fell apart. i wasn't to get another new bicycle 'till i bought a mountain bike about 25 years later.

I then promptly resurrected my small frame kid bike, jacked up the seat, laced up knobby tires and more or less invented the mountain bike a few years ahead of the Mt. Tam hippies out in Cali. That little bike was balls down on the Accotink creek trails. Yep.

	8:04pm coelacanth∅: ↳ medson @7:43 my friends & i set up ramps on a dead-end street and had jumping contests. one day my piece of shit (rally?) stingray was beyond ridability so i borrowed my younger sister's barely used, sparkly green $30 sears stingray bike...and again,and again...and discovered it was faster, more durable and could jump farther than my own bicycle. so the following xmas i asked for a sears 1-speed girls stingray bicycle with coaster brakes...but my parents decided i should be too grown-up for that. they tried to talk me into a 10-speed, but i strongly objected. (of course, i couldn't tell them i was jumping ramps and having "suicide rallies" where we intentionally crashed into each-other) so they gave me a very elaborate larger murray 3-speed stingray. the back wheel was larger, which i loved, and the paint was a gradual dark blue-violet-hot pink-deep red, metallic. "stick shifter; padded sissy bar! but it was heavy, and i couldn't do 40' skids down gallows hill road because no coaster brake. and it fell apart. i wasn't to get another new bicycle 'till i bought a mountain bike about 25 years later.
