A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Let Me Point Out That The Words "Policy" and "Poll" Share Etymological Roots

Democracy is a general concept with moving parts. All in all it is a function that should always have motives toward perfecting itself. As we are part of the parts and it is an ultra potent steward of the future; Democracy.
Thanks to communications technology, We The People have one small step to take in order to take the power back from a representative system that is broken and badly bleeding.
Every single elected official acting as a voting representative (or small local body of representatives like a school board or town managers) MUST poll the constituents on who's behalf they have an official capacity to cast an official vote for, BEFORE casting any and all official votes!
Every constituent should receive a text message link and/or an email link in order to build a poll before an official vote is set to be cast on their behalf.
This will give the representation consistent and direct sense of what We The People are for and about. Moving parts. Collective will. If and when an elected official votes against the majority of their constituents on any issue, there will be evidence for that fact.
Ultimately, I feel like Direct Voting by constituents on every single issue is the best route for the purification and perfection of Democracy. To severely diminish and weaken the power and authority of representation and the current "Democratic" systems. To put the Power of The People into the hands of the People. Officially. That is the goal.
But this small step to polling is necessary for many reasons.
Do it! Talk about it! Find the tech company with the best polling product for your community. Demand polling from Congressional representatives etc etc etc!

Society finding myriad, and often insidious, ways to undermine women’s authority is one to be pointed out and defied. I feel like the first name thing with politicians is often a brand thing that’s embraced by the person involved, right? Independent of gender. You only ever hear “Bernie”, for example. Either way parasocial relationships with politicians is deeply unhealthy and should go.

Trouble, I agree 100% that we're conditioned to call political/professional women by their first name and WE MUST ALSO LIST THEIR AGES IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THEIR NAMES, regardless of the context ("...Madonna, 66, ..."). "Hillary for America" was a branding campaign created by Pentagram for Clinton's 2016 presidential run, presumably intended to put everyone on a first-name basis and make her appear more personable and familiar to the undecided and/or curious? Loving all this Alice Coletrane. Mind blown by the harp gift story.
