I attended a concert of traditional Chinese Pipa music. One piece was an impressionistic account of a battle - replete with simulations of cannon fire. Centuries old - & on this minimalistic sort of instrument with few strings & not even a resonator box (a flat face). But all I could think of was Hendrix doing the Civil Rights Vietnam LSD National Anthem thru souped up Marshall amps & effects pedals.
