The pre-whatever stream is interesting today.

"Brigitte Fontaine feat. Art Ensemble of Chicago - Le Noir C'est Mieux Choisi" and The Kinks "See My Friends"

More freeform than the usual stream rotation.

And my point? Nothing whatever.

A good little Album with a good feel if not especially remarkable material :
en.wikipedia.org...
- probly under-recognized.
Exile otoh is among the Best Albums Ever by Anybody. If not their best Songs per se - (& like with Sgt.Pepper - I'd debate that assessment anyhow) - it takes one to a specific place & circumstance & sustains it over a Double like - well - no other. What all the AltKuntry people are aiming for - & what the ProtoPunk Glam NY Dolls were aiming for alike - the Stones already Owned It. & Exile is where they owned it the hardest.

last year i found out 1) there's fairly small interest in "stones albums on discogs and 2) the original some girls cover isn't that much more valuable than the altered one. maybe double.

↳ Song: "Pavan In C Minor" by "Matthew Wadsworth"
While all y'all are going on about the Rolling Stone, I took interest in the possible blues origin of Pavan in C Minor composed by Robert Johnson.

Seems the Robert Johnson in question is considered Robert Johnson II (c. 1583 – 1633), to distinguish him from an earlier Scottish composer. en.wikipedia.org...
This English Robert Johnson II lived under the shadow of the well known John Dowland. He found his niche gigging at some theaters and ended up writing music as requested to be used for the then new rave plays by William Shakespeare.
en.wikipedia.org...

One other item on possible interest: Matthew Wadsworth, whose performance of Pavan in C Minor we heard, is blind.

OK, back to just listening.

About 14 years ago, there was the first ever retrospective of Barrett's paintings in a small gallery in Cambridge. I went up to see it (it was excellent and featured work from all through his life), and it left me with the take that Roger Barrett was English painter who, for a short time, was also a musician.

Like that. Except to Music - he was hugely relevant to many. As for Floyd - it went from a Painter's band, to an Architectural School dropout's band - to a male Model's band. Literally.

I think the fact that he could live without music, but not without painting, seems quite revealing. If he'd had lived 10 years earlier, he'd have probably ended up ad a respected figure at the Royal Academy or something. But then we'd not have had Interstellar Overdrive, so I guess it's all swings and roundabouts really.

Like PeteTownshend never stopped kvethcing about wanting to go back to Art School & have a 'normal' life instead. JohnLennon once remarked he might've preferred to work in obscurity. That whole wave of British Invaders - after the War they stopped the draft & sent you to Art School if you didn't fit in elsewhere...
