↳ Song: "Rock Around the Clock" by "Chiemi Eri"
This is a great example of how many people didn't really know what rock n roll was in the early days, so they basically play it like swing jazz.

Ha, exactly what I was thinking!

↳ Song: "40 Cups Of Coffee" by "Chiemi Eri"
I like how she said "coffee" when singing in English, and "cohee" when in Japanese.

Mr Fab:

was just looking up Chiemi Eri. She died young from choking on her vomit - how rock n roll is that?!
Avatar 4:17pm
spacebrother:

↳ Mr Fab @4:15
I didn't know that! Amazing, but sad.
Avatar 4:20pm
David in California:

↳ spacebrother @4:17
"Her cause of death was listed as a stroke with asphyxiation due to vomit in the trachea. A further report indicated that while she had a cold and had already been drinking, a combination of whiskey mixed with milk, as well as cold medicine that she had heated up may have had a role in her death."

So it wasn't the usual drugs associated with rock n roll deaths.

Mr Fab:

Wow, not only is Chiemi Eri
singing in English (not too easy for Japanese) but in various accents and dialects.

What you've played of her's today is from the 50's. Did she continue to record in the 60's and the 70's?
Avatar 4:31pm
spacebrother:

↳ David in California @4:28
I'm not sure. Later, she seemed to have conecntrated on more standard Japanese fare from what I have seen.
