was not watching the playlist, so could be pointing to wrong track, but that sounded the most like Syd Barrett that I've heard without it being Syd Barrett.

Interesting! I know what you're saying. It's a wacky, but desperate approach to songwriting. My friend Wm Berger and I used to talk about that regarding the acolytes of Syd like Robyn Hitchcock and others.

Did Skip E Low ever move to commercial broadcasting, or was he always on public access cable?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
tom tom the pipers son:

↳ Krys O. @1:17
the "desperate approach" perhaps comes from a point of view that songwriting is an impossibility or what needs to be expressed is ineffable

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm

I'm afraid we have to take off. K8 booked a show down at Mama Tried. Her band is no longer playing because her bandmate is sick, but Creamo's going to do a Cyanide Tooth set, and Shellshag is headlining! Should be fun. But we have to head out now for it. The lack of a G train makes everything trickier.

Thanks, Krys! A great time as ever.

Hi, Dan! When I first moved to this town 25 years ago, the air traffic noise would wake me up. When there's a bad accident on the GSP, the traffic helicopters hover for hours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
Dan S:

↳ Krys O. @2:35
Helicopters are very noisy. Ever been on Governors Island? It would be a nice quiet spot except for the helicopter traffic.

I've heard that much quieter electric-powered replacements for helicopters are coming. But it will take decades for them to replace all those noisy choppers.

A friend of mine will be moving to Portugal for a month during the Olympics. As she found out during the rugby world cup, she lives right under were helicopters hover during sporting events, it was from 3pm to 2am then, it might be non-stop now

Never been on Governors Island, but we've had military helicopters run maneuvers in my neighborhood about 7 years ago. Didn't know what was going on and it was scary. They were landing in the high school football field which was next to my previous apartment.

interesting tidbit about tucker...
"Early in her career, Tucker appeared in blackface as a minstrel singer, but she disliked this work and would sabotage the act by revealing that she was white at the end of the show, first removing a glove to reveal her white hand, then by pulling off her wig and exposing her blonde hair."
