I know many of you have been waiting in suspense... The Magnificat is a prayer made by the Virgin Mary shortly after the Annunciation (Luke, 1). It begins, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name." It has been set to music countless times. (Still can't remember that book I recently read about it in.)
