good word. i always think of scumbag reagan when i hear that word. he was very easy to see through, like trump, if one was open to seeing through it. same with fux news. it seems to me it's directed at total morons! -with their scripted wardrobe malfunctions and scripted verbal bloopers, etc... so obvious.
buckley was an asshole but really not nearly as bad as most trump or bush supporters.
-not that i'm an expert.
Avatar 12:41am
tom tom the pipers son:

debate took place in '69. jeff greenfield, later village voice reporter (i thinK) and network news reporter asks chomsky if it would be a heroic act to sabotage a platoon of american soldiers on their way to vietnam, ostensibly to kill vietnamese chomsky agrees....more than impossible to witness free speech like this today
Avatar 12:46am
tom tom the pipers son:

↳ coelacanth∅ @12:37
buckley is actually pretty simple minded (or pandering to the masses) in the analogies that he uses to try to throw chomsky off track ...something like "if you call us nazis, why'd we save europe in ww2" seemingly unably to hold two things in his mind at the same time

haha, really?! i've never heard him speak, maybe never even read any quotes...only have read *about* him. and not that much.

strangely, not so much like bush, who i think is fairly intelligent, in a machiavellian way.

it's worth a watch, even just to see young chomsky...and i'm exaggerating a little in my buckley quote but you get the point
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am
coelacanth∅:

...probably more pandering to the masses though. like trump. i think he's pretty clever... like calling his supporters "intelligent"! - that's manipulation 101!

Re: BRICS: IMHO this is a simplistic campist viewpoint since Russia and India are currently even worse than the U.S. and are certainly no friends of leftists. Russia is now run by a neo-imperialist far-right dictator who is militantly anti-LGBTQ. He doesn’t hide it. He openly talks about wiping out the godless western gay liberal (by which he means all leftists and moderates, not the tankie/commie definition of liberal) corrupters of the traditional Russian family etc. And in India, militant Hindutva murderers run things.

long long ago i got to someone's house and she was painting. then she pulled out some thick, soft canvas type of material and we made hand prints.
then sometime later she surprised me with a pillow she'd made with her hand print on 1 side and mine on the other. it was filled with whole oat groats and various herbs - lavender, lemon verbena, mugwort...
it was firm but had some give and was comfortable if laying on my side, and smelled Lovely.
then when i was in transition it got submerged in flood waters.
...i'm sure it was quite tasty for a short time but ultimately taught me at least one downside to food-filled cushioning.
