when i hooked that up, after having a sony for a few years, the difference in sound was night and day...or shall i say cold and warm.
...'makes sense, coming from a grand piano builder.
i also have a yamaha recorder made of some recycled resin that sounds far better than the usual plastic ones.

so if you have the storage space (and a 5tb external storage is <$100 now) it's better to store them as wav files and burn from them. (you can keep the cd burning software on the external 5tb also).

then when i tried to burn a cd i could not; and the "mediahuman audio converter" can't convert "up", only down. so i could not burn the cd until i downloaded a different cd burner that can convert "up" to a wav file.
now i download a wav, store it onto 2 different external hard drives, then convert it to flac to keep in my laptop.

i have mxplayer which plays EVERYTHING; and pine player... both open source, dependable, pretty much instant players. pine player's a bit limited but sounds amazing
