Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

Pausing in between. Walk after dinner, I'm hoping. I dig this fascinating Modney album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
DJ Peter:

The overarching theme of this album is "just intonation" but I'm not clear on what's going on with the piano. If it was detuned or what. Or just sounds weird since the other instruments are just and it's tempered.

Hmm, all those prime-numbered group sizes are in danger of recapitulating the current cicada emergences.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
DJ Peter:

↳ Listener Gregory @7:39
Are you joking or... the life cycles are tied to prime numbers? (There's certainly other math stuff in nature so I would believe it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
DJ Peter:

You know what... I'm just now realizing that whoever digitized this McBee album probably misbanded it badly: I think that must have been the end of the previous track and now "expression" is starting. (whacks forehead)
  7:52pm
Listener Gregory:

Yes, cicadas emerge in prime-numbered years, to make it harder for any predator to match their trick. If they came up every four years, then biannual predators would emerge consistently in their emergence years. So the two swarms we have now are 11- and 13-year guys.
