I usually think an author like Eric Hoffer is way too apologetic for unrestrained capitalism, yet sometimes he makes a keen point. For example, people one on one being pretty cool, yet when within mobs, they tend to lose their integrity. Which is ironic somewhat. I believe we've simultaneously gained (and lost) integrity due to the "Global Village" that was the television. And is now probably the internet.

I mean if it is true that re-tribalization is one of the effects of the internet. Then what is this actual message of this medium? I mean a personal computer is a lot of things: A printing press, a soap box, a stock market casino game, a message delivery system... But what would McLuhan have said about this had he lived to see it. I don't even know if I'd trust his opinion though because he was himself a product of the radio and television era.

Nice! 8-legged prose for 4AM mindsets. Which could indeed be going in 8 distinct directions, not necessarily all aquatic. It brings to mind those news stories of octopi escaping their zoo enclosures amidst the night. We as humans are scientifically getting closer to actual thought communication with animals every year it seems. I'm only slightly fearful of what they'll have to say about we humans.

That line of thinking perhaps would explain the oddball break ins to PKD's home and men in suits scooping him up to drive him around L.A. once. Yet, I digress. It's quite unknowable, really.

Agreed. Never ask a writer of speculative fiction what's truly on their mind. That's what their novels are for I guess. It's sorta odd this day and age because like William Gibson's friend told him when Lisa Marie Presley wed Michael Jackson, "This makes your job incredibly more difficult." The documentary, 'No Maps For These Territories' is pretty neat. It's basically William interviewed in the seat of a taxi sedan whilst he is smoking cigarettes and chatting.

Half of the time, I give too much credit to big name authors. Like for example, I always picture them in some cramped, bookshelf-perimeter walls stuffy room....Yet in Murakami's latest book on the topic of writing as a vocation, he says he spent time in Hawaii writing one book and other very nice locations too. He does say that a writer needs to limit distractions and clear their desk to empty. I don't know if I agree with that. Like for example, Jean MIchel Basquiat would have the radio blaring, the anatomy book open, magazines strewn about, and the TV going simultaneously. Not so sure it works the same for writing prose or poetry, though.

De-militarize the entire Palestine/Israel area. Fly everyone out for the duration of 100 years. Teach Hand In Hand schooling in which Hebrew + Arabic is taught in each classroom simultaneously. Then 100 years later, give everyone of those children (now adults) the choice of moving back to the area as one. Is it possible? Sure, just look at the past Marshall Plan for rebuilding Europe post WWII. Is it an likely action? I don't think it is, just judging from all of the what I call 'Color By Number' Evangelic and hardcore sects of Christianity seem to want to prophesy as their jaded future.

I'd have to agree. And I know for certain that we're even scarier when we act in numbers. It's a lot like that Cramps song. It's also a lot like that quote from Robert Anton Wilson, in regard to the fact that Americans cannot seem to see that WE are the largest force for ill currently. Something about that quote, probably by a nazi, that a lie told, is better the bigger the lie it is. Irony sinks in when one views that quote in context of Operation Paperclip under which the USA (simultaneously Soviet Union) procured nazi scientists and aerospace dudes to create the new military industrial corporations and the infancy of NASA program.

High culture is available to the public largely because the wealthy, charitably, make it so. But the nature of this gala, with its emphasis on extolling the captivating virtues of celebrity, leaves me wondering whether the event’s organizers misread the story’s critique or were simply blind to it. For a less generous interpretation of the story appears to mock the culture-consuming public.

It's really a sick and twisted reality when there's weapons spending budgets now allocated for both sides in the equation. It leads one to the sneaking suspicion that it's the Freemasons, the Jesuits, the Likud Party, the conservative crazed Evangelists....Yet when one boils it down it seems like it's just a big money grab by military industrial corporations and a case of container ship choke points. Anyone who has played a Final Fantasy video game knows that the game usually begins (and ends) at the center point of the world map. Sadly.

I wonder if Biden has the capacity to think at all, or any other politician in DC, for that matter.

President Joe once had a dream
The world held his hand, gave their pledge
So he told them his scheme for a Saviour Machine

They called it the Prayer, its answer was law
Its logic stopped war, gave them food
How they adored 'til it cried in its boredom

"Please don't believe in me
Please disagree with me
Life is too easy
A plague seems quite feasible now
Or maybe a war
I may kill you all"

Don't let me stay, don't let me stay
My logic says, "Burn," so send me away
Your minds are too green
I despise all I've seen
You can't stake your lives on a Saviour Machine
