Tuesday Tuesday, semi alert

Hi Miss Mei and all

Afternoon, Miss Mei and anyone else.

Mr Fab:

hey Miss Mei, and all you people I care about!

Sorry, just tuned in now - what the heck does toothpaste have to do with ambient music? Did I miss an explanation?

I have no idea. Someone just found this CD and uploaded it to the internet archive. They had no background on it.

The date isn't a definite either. The art and sound of the music tells me it's early-mid 2000s, but it could be late 90s for all we know.

Colgate sponsored it, probably means they sent it to Dentists' office to play. Just a thought.

An appropriate thought, that is.

They actually have their own record label (or at least, HAD one.)

Better than Colgate Frozen Lasagna!

Mr Fab:

Could be the '90s - bit of a "world music" influence here, and that was a kind of a big deal back then. Mixed with leftover '80s New Age-isms.

I would place the disc somewhere between 1995-2008. No later or earlier than that though, I don't think.

Mr Fab:

some on-line comments:

-"this appears to be the only official release any of these songs ever received."

-"They used to hand out stuff like this at grocery stores. I remember once in the '90s I got a Colgate or Crest VHS 20 min cartoon tape in the mail -unsolicited."

↳ Song: "A Day At The Beach, Plus..." by "Paradox"
"A Day At The Beach" - Shouldn't that be by Pair O' Docks?
(old joke, sorry)

Little bit of a backstory on this tape: I found this at my friend's house a year and a half back or so. Nothing about it was online, so I too it home without asking and digitised it. It was recorded by Italian-American social worker Pierre Tribaudi.

My friend's mother was also a social worker in the area, so she must have either bought the tape from/had the tape given to her by Tribaudi.

Nothing online about this, and yet he went to the trouble of copywriting it, getting a barcode for the package, etc? That's not very "outside music," seems like he was really trying to make a career move with this.

I initially felt a little bad about taking it without asking, though it had been in that tape rack for over 2 decades by that point and I didn't think it would be noticed (and I was right!) Once I digitised side B, I knew I had made the right decision.

He copyrighted 2 other audio cassettes, one that features words by one Mary Ferguson, who is likely the NY based social worker Mary Anne Ferguson.

I'm assuming that little Colgate blurb announced at the end of the last track was from the CD? Pretty minimal advert.

That was the CD, I wasn't aware of that part initially as I'd never listened to all 7 tracks before today.

I just saw an article about recent testing to determine his health problems/cause of death revealed the presence of heavy metals in Beethoven's hair.

hey comedians, there's a straight-line for ya!

I like the way all 3 of these tapes/CDs just blend in together. If I hadn't been paying attention to the Accu, I would've assumed this was all just one long tape.

The Bonzo dog band did a song called “the canyons of your mind.“ It did not sound like this.

Nor does it sound like Noel Harrison's "Windmills of my Mind".
