I find the end-run of "Rocky Fortune" to be very good. The stories get better, the jokes are good, the show is firing on all cyliders. It's a bummer the show would only last a couple more episodes.

March 16, 1954 - ooh, that would have been around the time of the Oscars, when Frank won for “From Here To Eternity.”

Of the four movies they costarred in, "Dark Passage" (1947, adapted from a David Goodis novel) is the least celebrated and my favorite.
The P.O.V. technique (which doesn't show the hero) was used less effectively earlier that year in "Lady in the Lake" starring Robert Montgomery as Philip Marlowe.

"The Story of Alexander Graham Bell" (1939), Don Ameche's most famous role, inspired some comedy bits.
My favorite is a college fraternity hazing scene in "Class of '44" (1973), the not as famous sequel to "Summer of '42" (1971). I wish I could find the scene online.

The strip was indeed influential. "Life Below" (Feb 22, 1948) may have inspired Frank Miller's portrayals of subway squatters in his "Daredevil" and "Ronin". Frank admitted that Sand Saref inspired his character Elektra.
William Friedkin stated that one strip (I can't remember which) influenced a scene in "The French Connection".
