I may have to agree about ACL.

I've seen Beck in concert twice. I saw him way way back in the day with Atari Teenage Riot and the Roots. ATR were amazing. Beck was disjointed and weird and maybe not in a good way. Then I saw him a couple years ago and he was really good but also absolutely uninspiring. It was also weird.

So glad someone else knows about that film. Saw it at a screening (& haven't since) but remember liking it a lot; I think the director & the then-unknown John Turturro were in the audience). As for the Coens, I've liked a few (Lebowski, some early ones) but their gleeful nihilism gets old (esp. when they killed off the most likable character in "Burn..."). Their atttitude seems to be: everything sucks, people are awful, isn't this funny? L. Davis especially---they took a great idea for a film---upcoming folk singer tries to make it in the early '60s---and turned it into another story of an asshole character & all the other greedy, opportunistic people he runs into. And finally saw "Hudsucker" recently & thought it was amazing how they made a screwball comedy with all the required ingredients---except laughs.

- well the character Llewyn Davis was a loser or an also-ran in Music. Right @ the end Dylan appears peripherally - singing the same song - & passing him by on the way up...
