I have my ticket for the 69 Love Songs Part 1 show at Town Hall next month. Maybe they will play this as an encore even if it's not on the album, probably not. I saw Merritt play this song solo at BAM a few years ago. I was really surprised that he decided to play it.

Johnette Napolitano....Great voice and songwriter. Also on par with her is Mollie Israel of the little known (outside of Los Angeles area) The Lost Patrol. 'Lonesome Sky' is a f'n amazingly good album.

Maybe so, yet I'd still say that Basquiat (not dissimilar from Madonna) combined radio, TV, Jazz, everything, rolled it into a ball, and spat it out into something beautiful. We're not entirely incongruent here, just coming from slightly varying perspectives.

Not saying you're entirely wrong, but he's long, long dead and a flash in the pan at that, somewhat f'd up, and developed his cult post-mortem. Just sick of hearing his name as something to drop. It's not much different than hearing people brag about the Grateful Dead, at this point.

Yet it's very much like comparing General Mills cereals to Post cereals.... Both are derived from grain, yet their origins and inspirations differ slightly. Anyhow, there's a reason most people move to big cities like NY City. It's there where the magic tends to happen. Or, at least where the magicians tend to take more notice when a lower adept casts a wayward spell....

- I was flabbergasted when the millennials era sorta started taking over & or shaping programming - & started hearing stuff like Fred Frith and CAN and classic punk & 80s new wave being utilized as interstitial motifs. (& At the same time I was thinking - hey, get your own music era stuff … hahahA 😝).
