Back around 1980, while I was still at school, I was obsessed with all things Beatles and had been slowly discovering the Yoko Ono catalogue. I was in Driftin' a fantastic secondhand record shop in Cheltenham, thumbing through the racks and I noticed a copy of Rock Lobster, original issue, on the shelf behind Roger, the shop's owner. he started telling me about it and how much I would love it when I picked up a copy of Yoko's Approximately Infinite Universe from his racks and immediately spent every penny I had on that. If he had told me how much the B-52's were influenced by Yoko I might well have gone back the next day and bought it, but I didn't, and consequently had to wait to be introduced to their magnificence for another year!

Back around 1980, while I was still at school, I was obsessed with all things Beatles and had been slowly discovering the Yoko Ono catalogue. I was in Driftin' a fantastic secondhand record shop in Cheltenham, thumbing through the racks and I noticed a copy of Rock Lobster, original issue, on the shelf behind Roger, the shop's owner. he started telling me about it and how much I would love it when I picked up a copy of Yoko's Approximately Infinite Universe from his racks and immediately spent every penny I had on that. If he had told me how much the B-52's were influenced by Yoko I might well have gone back the next day and bought it, but I didn't, and consequently had to wait to be introduced to their magnificence for another year!
