This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

↳ Song: "Elena" by "Fourth Sensation"
had to take this one for another spin - nothing but library legends in the mix for this record: Sandro Brugnolini, Stefano Torossi, Massimo Catalano, etc. & with AREA guitarist Ares Tavolazzi, who really shines here

sounds a lot like Season but I think there's some serious Cowgirl in the Sand DNA in here too

Correct, WR, but then there are lines like these:
"He was obstinate, cranky and consumed with the beauty of common objects; he persisted with his art in the face of enormous loneliness. Living with his mother and his disabled brother, he found his inspiration in the work of other artists and dedicated his boxes to figures ranging from the composer Franz Schubert to the poet Emily Dickinson to the television actress Patty Duke."

this is based on a side-long composition that appears on the 1971 Waldron album (called The Call), featuring Braceful & Eberhard Weber. One of the best records of all time, really

Flash Strap:

tom tom! great to see ya! how goes?
Avatar 8:10pm
Flash Strap:

Waldron started out playing with Mingus, Abbey Lincoln, Max Roach, etc. with something of a different style. in '63 he had a heroin overdose that left him unable to remember music or how to play. He had to slowly redevelop his skills and his resultant, now-defining style is this unique, angular, Monk-inspired technique: "likened to American minimalism: a slow accretion of almost subliminal harmonic and rhythmic shifts steadily pile up until the music seems ready to overbalance"
