Back in the day, around 1976, FCA was played TO DEATH on radio. There was really no reason to bother buying the album. You only needed to turn on the radio. Then Frampton came out with his follow up, "I'm in You," and it BOMBED. Never heard from him again.

@roadsider in 1976 I was ironically listening to the easy listening and big band or whatever classics channel such that I hated everything so much. In 1977 I was a literal Boy Scout and made my way with some friends to Lower Manhattan that smoggy, muggy hot summer. We wanted to see punks because we thought they were on to something. Couldn't get in anywhere and the punk looks were subtle. Basically "not hippie".

I checked this because I wondered. “I’m in You” peaked at 2 on US Billboard and went platinum. His sales tanked after that. By the early to mid 80s his albums were peaking at 150 or 170 on US Billboard, and his longtime label A&M dropped him in the early 80s. After that, each successive unsuccessful album is on a different label as he tried to recapture lighting in a bottle on seemingly one-record deals.
