Bert Jansch was one of my first Twitter celebrity interactions. I tweeted about confusing him with the late John Martyn. He replied " - #WhichOneWasInPentagle - I was the one in Pentangle. Definitely very much alive - and in Somerville tonight!" (He died a year later, sadly.)

eriko-vert:

Wow : I can’t believe how much this Gary Numan “this is my house” song recalls the sound of Japan/David Sylvian circa that same time. Unfortunately, I had already bailed on good ole Gary after the first Two albums. Never listened any of the following albums, let alone “I,Assasin”(1982). Guess I gotta reconsider. Curious, who’s playing that rubbery sounding fretless bass?
Ps: watched that Gary Numan documentary from a few years ago (preparing family move from UK to USA & touring again) - it was quite good !😊

-- According to a long-standing member of the Friars Club, where the Chairman of the Board served as Abbot for two decades: “At a Friars dinner in honor of Elizabeth Taylor [in 1983], as he made his way to the podium, the band played him on with ‘New York, New York.’”

Ol’ Blue Eyes barked, “Don’t ever play that song again! I had enough of ‘My Way,’ which was a pain in the ass, and I don’t want this one to become a pain in the ass!”

Sinatra had replaced “My Way” with “New York, New York” as his regular encore at concerts. (Either way, Sinatra’s widow, Barbara, once recalled the song Frank hated most was actually “Strangers in the Night” — “a piece of s - - t” and “the worst f - - king song I’ve ever heard.”) --
