I spent a stupid amount of time trying to find where Orson Welles said "Blood Suckers" somewhere. Anywhere. Not in Dracula. Not in his interviews about Hollywood.

And then I gave up and started looking for Maurice LaMarche saying "Bloodsuckers" as the Brain. But I couldn't find that either.

Fletcher and Herrmann were doing cross-country trips when he started doing Hollywood scores, starting with Citizen Kane, They drove one time and she saw the same hitchhiker on the Brooklyn Bridge and the Pulaski skyway (iirc). When she wrote it for radio Herrmann wanted to score it bc it was "their" story. The music was used in all recordings and iirc ended up as library music and was used in the Twilight Zone adaptation.

Welles spieled about himself before a lot of early radio episodes, referring to people attacking his "boy genius" label, the War of the Worlds backlash, people not liking certain kinds of literature (low or popular) and how great he is. I doubt it's a dig at Hitchcok or anyone in particular, Hitchcock didn't use the musical theme until his 50s tv show iirc. Anyway, I'll shaddup for a while.

In Richard Linklater’s fictional “Me and Orson Welles” John Houseman is played by Eddie Marsan, the miserable driving instructor in Mike Leigh’s “Happy-Go-Lucky”.
The person responsible for casting Christian McKay as Orson was Marc Lanzoff, the much despised “guy on the stool” who collected admission charges at the Court Tavern!
Marc died this year.

A really creepy killer doll movie is MUNECOS INFERNALES which is a Mexican ripoff of the book Burn, With, Burn and has the freakiest doll bastards. I think they're children in old age masks and suits, using knitting needles to stab people to death. I haven't done any of The Conjuring films bc I don't love the other stuff made by the people and the couple the movies are based on were big-time scammers and that drives me crazy. The funniest thing about Annabelle is that in reality the supposed cursed doll was a Raggedy Ann doll.
