This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Regarding post Haden LMO albums, looks like the 2nd one has not been released. In the Pietaro interview it was discussed as being in progress. I guess I just assumed it was out by now. The first one was partially done before Haden passed and then finished and released the next year.

These Watt JCOA releases I have only on vinyl in storage. Think wanting to hear them all the way through in full fidelity will nudge me to get my turntable hooked up and go dig the disks out.

this LP is famously just a Carla Bley album with Nick Mason's name on it - vocals by Robert Wyatt of course!

I devoted all three hours of my show to Carla in September '21. I titled the show, "Thank you Carla, queen of the fucking universe": wfmu.org...

I'll miss her sense of humour in serious music. Gallows humour, always. Like Charles Addams. Even on the bandstand. Remarks that would leave the room silent.

The first comment on the chatboard for that show came from WR. He said, "
I hope this program honoring Carla Bley is in no way a reflection of Bley's health and that at 85 she is still making music..."

Speaking of beloved pianists, I will be devoting an hour of my show tomorrow morning to Oscar Dennard, "the phantom pianist." Virtually no one has heard of him.
