	9:54pm Dean: By all means, mask! I was infected, I believe, by relaxing my masking. I ride on public transportation, meet with folks, etc. Never again. Anyway, my face ain't, you know, all that compelling, so masking serves a secondary benefit. I shouldn't vaccinate again until November or December, since I've just had the disease that's so much less fun to contract than syphilis.

This holy month is said to have been the time when Mohammed received the Koran from God, the work which guides men and illuminated their way on earth. At sunset cannons are fired in the villages, signalling the end of daylight fast and the beginning of the evening when the ban is lifted. After satisfying their hunger, the men of the towns and villages retire to tea shops where they partake of mint tea and Kif* while playing or listening to music. From the doorways of these tea shops the pungence of the Kif and strains of the music attract passers-by as powerful magnet. Often the customers will while away the entire night, leaving only to eat again before the next day's fasting begins. It is from this atmosphere that the music of this album is drawn. The strange combination of religious and social aspects of Ramadhan is reflected in the love songs on side one, recorded at Xauen, as compared to the ancient religious songs from the Tetuan on side two, music that had been passed down through innumerable generation but has remained virtually unchanged. *Kif is the Moroccan word for a form of Marihuana smoked in a pipe with a long wood stem and a small clay bowl on the end.”	1:51:28 (Pop-up)
