Comb filter is where the signal is followed by a copy of the same signal, but the copy is delayed only slightly. It's similar to a flange effect, but it sounded more like a comb filter to me (because the delay sounded like a constant duration, not variable like a flange).

I don't get cassettes-yeah, they're cheap (that's the only positive I can think of). Used to be they were the only way to record material, but you can burn them on CD now. They sound bad, tend to go bad, I was glad to stop using them.

I'd say you're better off NOT springing for the vinyl. Mine had a bad skip at the beginning of side 4, so I returned it to Amazon, didn't ask for a replacement, just a refund. (I have a ton of Coltrane, including the better Live at the Village Vanguard box set, which also includes Dolphy).
