Ha, yeah, we did. The rear bumper even held on the whole way. And I don't think the car has moved more than a mile since we've been back! Our car is pretty much the opposite of culture.

If you don't have a WFMU shirt, you can just slap a bumper sticker on a plain t-shirt and you're good to go.

This stuff is totally up my alley. So glad I tuned in! Was just about to say it sounds a lot like Gong, and then this riff.

Howdy CC, everyone.
  10:21pm

Skronk. Not a derogatory term.

This IS a Gong riff, right? Or is it Soft/Wyatt?

Creamo, I’m going to have to do some checking when I go inside but I may have been at the LA version of this show as a teenager in LA. Is it the Manifestival of Progressive Music?
Avatar 10:26pm
Creamo Coyl:

Whoa, yeah, didn't know there was an LA version.
  10:27pm
rw:

Ah! Just looked at the playlist. I WAS at the LA show. Weirdly, my next door neighbor was there too!
  10:30pm
rw:

As I remember the LA version was said to be something of a flop, but as a 17 yr old I totally dug it. Even the floppy parts!
Avatar 10:31pm
Mister Dobalina:

A+
Avatar 10:33pm
Creamo Coyl:

Looks like the LA one was 1979 and Far East Family Band from Japan played, which is pretty wild.
No noisy bands on this one, mostly Gong and related.

Is thus the Santiago Durango Arsenal? There were many with that name.

  10:39pm
Clem Fandango:

This whole show is amazing Cremo 👏 👏 friggin wish I coulda been there to hear this stuff
Avatar 10:42pm
Creamo Coyl:

Moebius is billed on the LA one. Assuming that's like THE Moebius, not some lame LA prog band? Facelift, I'm guessing, quite like the Soft Machine. Too bad they don'rt have any LAFMS stuff or like Monitor or something. Human Hands? Fuck it, Black Flag.
Avatar 10:43pm
Creamo Coyl:

The perfect band for either of the festivals would have been MX-80, but alas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Handy Haversack:

Am I crazy, or did this thing happen at that movie theater on Second Ave.?

Also, where was No Trend?
  10:48pm
rw:

I was a kid and it was a long time ago but I’m pretty sure it was a lame LA prog band.
Avatar 10:48pm
Creamo Coyl:

Haha the poster also says "Poets, Mime AND SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST STARS"
Mime-rockin-prog show.
Maybe Gallagher showed up?
Avatar 10:49pm
Creamo Coyl:

No Trend didn't exist yet. Plus they were from DC.
Yes, that theater on 2nd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm

Looking forward to when Dave Mandl does an hour of mime prog just to show it can be don!
