It wasn't until years later that I went back to the beginning and discovered hey, some of this is really good.

	3:49pm Funky16Corners: The first time I saw the Dead was around 1990 at Giant's Stadium. It was magical. Bruce Hornsby was touring with them, they played a bunch of cool things I didn't expect to hear (Black Peter) and the weather was perfect.
	3:49pm wendy del formaggio: @Polyus: My story about the Dead is similar but not exact. As a teen I loved their music, especially the early and/or freakier stuff. Then I got to college in the early 90s in VT. Between the dipshit deadhead bros and the Phish crap, I fled the Dead. It wasn’t until Jeff Conklin’s show on the Mothership that I returned to appreciating them.

	3:54pm doctorjazz: I saw the Dead a bunch of times, including the RFK concert with the Allman Brothers. The last time I saw them was in the 90's. Madison Square Garden. It was not a great show; I was struck by Garcia playing Sugar Magnolia a whole measure behind the rest of the band at one point. That was it for me (took me a while to get back to listening to them, love it again now).

	3:49pm Funky16Corners: The first time I saw the Dead was around 1990 at Giant's Stadium. It was magical. Bruce Hornsby was touring with them, they played a bunch of cool things I didn't expect to hear (Black Peter) and the weather was perfect.

Then I got to college in the early 90s in VT. Between the dipshit deadhead bros and the Phish crap, I fled the Dead. It wasn’t until Jeff Conklin’s show on the Mothership that I returned to appreciating them.

It was not a great show; I was struck by Garcia playing Sugar Magnolia a whole measure behind the rest of the band at one point. That was it for me (took me a while to get back to listening to them, love it again now).
