"WFMU East Orange, [WMFU] Mount Hope", repeater transmitters are given by frequency and location, in lieu of saying the long repeater names (W2SWH or something like). But unless it was required to always say the frequency decades ago in addition, it's always just been "WFMU East Orange" since I began listening over a decade ago.

I don't believe the frequency is required by FCC mandate. Only call letters and licensed locality.

Yes, they used to mention 91.1 (I just confirmed from an old recording). I remember when they started using the current ID, which was in 2012 or 2013.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Handy Haversack:

↳ Irwin @3:13
And I wonder how much of that is because of using radio signals for route finding? You are on a frequency, you are told the location, and your map likely has the transmitter on it so you can plot a route with that as an absolute bearing.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:16pm

Alan Merrill was the first person I had met and knew who died from covid. (Sadly he wasn't the last.)

He's probably most remembered for writing this song, but I remember him as being kind, as remembering who I was over about a six year period despite the fact that I was not and am not famous, and finally I remember him for drinking a massive whiskey on the rocks the last time I saw him around 2011.
