Hello, all! Today's playlist image is a painting/collage by Belgian artist Jane Graverol. It's called "L’École de la vanité," and is from 1967.

Stream foot note. About 15 minutes before this show, on the stream was played a selection from Duke Ellington's album "A Drum Is A Woman". I'd like to hear that again I thought and looked in my MP3 library, in which I have about 4000 Duke Ellington MP3s but I do not have that recording. The stream is deep.

Damn, I love the Third Ear Band, totally out there.

I asked Dave Tomlin once if there was any chance they would ever play together again in some form, and he looked at me with a withering stare and said "I'm 83 and I can hardly walk".

Hmm. Found a review of the Andromeda album, which refers to "beautifully-played rendition of Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto" -- so maybe the band wasn't pretending they wrote that section, just the bulk of the track. Dropping in quotes/sections borrowed from classical music was regular prog practice at the time, after all.

Hahaha! The would be fun to introduce Iggy. "Here he is folks. The man who has not worn a top for more than 30 seconds since LBJ was president. Iggy Pop!"

I saw him at a mini festival here in London about three weeks ago, and he managed to keep a waistcoat on for about five or ten seconds as he bounded on to 'Five Foot One'.

He was utterly awesome, too. Nearing 80 and the raw power is still flowing out of him undimmed.
