...We exalt Democracy so much. Not just the highest levels of Government (say, the Supreme Court) - but with how many Institutions @ every level & area of Society do we actually have any Democracy ? What effects you that you actually have a Vote in ? & - how many really reflect the Will of the actual Majority ? Very very few that I can see...

The database (mostly) just goes back to 2000 or 2001, I think. So if anybody played that Laurie Anderson track between 1982 and 2000, it probably wouldn't show it. But playing it for the first time in at least 23 years is something!

forgive me for retelling this story...my Laurie Anderson encounter was kind of surreal.. at the Kitchen in NY for a meet n greet with ken nordine after his show. it was raining out and both she and lou reed had yellow slickers on. it was one of the "most new york" experiences i've had..
