Kittimu:

Oh hey chatroom guys, (since apparently don bolles is one of the only people ever to use this term,) have you guys got any recommendations for "future fifties" style bands? I've been wanting to make a playlist
  3:16pm
Cheree July:

Well, Kittimu, we're playing the Rubettes right now. There's one.
Avatar 3:16pm
Debbie Davenport:

Me and Gordon associate that with Don too. I'm not totally sure what qualifies for that but I think it's an enjoyable term. Sounds like this song playing fits in to that.
Avatar 3:17pm
Debbie Davenport:

OK, read Cheree's comment. Yes it does.

Kittimu:

Thanks Cheree, I was just listening to them a couple weeks ago too. Some real powerful basslines on those songs for real
Avatar 3:21pm
Debbie Davenport:

Oh, one of the records I sent to Don. It's sold as a soul record. But I think it fits here.
Avatar 3:23pm
Debbie Davenport:

The one I'm sending him next does not fit here. but it's a cool one. So our leader should have it in his library.
  3:23pm
Cheree July:

Chewing Gum Rock by Nicky Bulldog is an excellent example of Future Fifties.

Honestly, Don's voice does not sound like that of a Grandpa. At all.

In fact, the first time I heard this show, I imagined Don as a guy in his 20s or 30s.
Avatar 3:34pm
Debbie Davenport:

I agree!
  3:37pm
Cheree July:

I've heard tapes of what Don sounded like in his 20s & 30s. He sounded spunkier than he does now.🤔

Does anyone know where the image for today's show is from? Is it a record sleeve cover?
  3:45pm

I know, Mr. Oxford! It's from the Carrere 1982 45 of Babe's Indian Habits & One Touch Too Much.
Avatar 3:45pm

↳ Song: "Tame Me Tiger" by "Bonnie St Claire"
I like that this song sort of recycles the riff for "Wild Thing" by the Troggs and the sexuality expressed is from the female side. Cool song.
Avatar 3:49pm
Debbie Davenport:

↳ Cheree July @3:47
I hadn't thought of that! I thought of Grease though. I think they do that stuff. And Sha Na Na maybe. My tween watching time is fuzzy in my memory on this.

No worries! In fact Babe's Indian Habits & One Touch Too Much 45s also have interesting record cover sleeves as per Discogs.

Hey glitter kitties?
Was this song by Laurice, going by another name? Sure sounded like him/in his style.

Mr. Fab, Paul St. John is actually Laurice.

In an art museum. It was mummified in Egyptian times. Check it out sometime. If you drive that direction. It's all done with respect near some paintings.
Avatar 4:33pm
Debbie Davenport:

I'm still friends with my ex from then. He'd remember what museum it was.
  4:36pm
Cheree July:

Sounds like the kind of thing Dr. Paul Koudinaris would photograph.📸
Avatar 4:38pm
Debbie Davenport:

I wish I would of photographed it. It remember it as being part of their permanent collection, so it's possibly still on display. I used to visit it in 1985/86
Avatar 4:39pm
Mr. Oxford:

In Ancient Egypt, cats were considered sacred animals. It was normal to mummify them when they passed away. Here is a short article from Carnegie Museum of Natural History: carnegiemnh.org...
